Reserve "Rodina TG Shevchenko"

The Taras Shevchenko Literary and Memorial Museum is a museum in the village of Shevchenkovo, Zvenigorod District, Cherkassy Region, located in the territory of the father's estate of T.G. Shevchenko, where he lived with 1815 for 1829 year.

Here the house of Taras' parents was reconstructed, the grave of the poet's mother was preserved. In the center of the village, in the former cemetery, is the grave of Grigory Shevchenko, the father of Taras. Not far from the museum is the house of the deacon Bogorsky, where he studied the letters of the small Taras (the year of construction - 1782). Above it, in 1961, a protective structure was erected. For many years Shevchenko's grandson, TT Shevchenko, worked at the Shevchenko Museum. His business was continued by his daughter - VT Shevchenko, who was the head of the museum for 30 years.

In 1992, the museum receives the status of the state historical and cultural reserve "The Motherland of Taras Shevchenko", uniting around itself three villages of Kobzar's childhood - Morintsy, Budishche, Karelovka. Since 1995, the post of director of the reserve is occupied by Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine L.M. Shevchenko. By the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 74 / 2006 of 26 January 2006, the reserve was granted the status of national.
