Strukov church in Yasinya

One of the main attractions of Yasinya and all the Carpathians is the Strukov church, located in the village of Yasinya in the Rakhiv district of the Transcarpathian region.

The Ascension or Strukov church is a famous wooden church in Hutsulshchyna. The church was built in 1824 in the village of Yasinya, on Mount Kosterivka. According to legend, she was built by shepherd Ivan Struk after the miraculous rescue of his flock of sheep in the midst of a snowstorm.

The church has five log cabins, a cross-shaped lay-out and a dome made in the form of an octagon. It is built entirely of natural wood. The temple consists of three tiers, so it seems more massive and heavy. Not far from it there is a bell tower, which was built a little earlier than the church itself - in 1813 year. Its height reaches 11 meters. Strukov church is one of the most vivid and significant monuments of the folk architecture of Hutsulshchyna.

Currently, the temple is listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
