Ternopol is a beautiful, cozy city в Western Ukraine, the regional center. The city was founded in 1540 by the hetman Jan Amor Tarnowski, who founded a fortified castle here. Until 1944, the city was called Tarnopil, in honor of its founder.

Unfortunately, during the Second World War, Ternopil was practically destroyed, so there was practically nothing left of the Old City. The majestic Dominican church, built in XVIII century in the Baroque style. One of the best examples of Podol architecture XVIIcentury - the church of the Nativity, in which the defender of the Ternopil region is kept - the famous icon of the Ternopil Mother of God. 

One of the main attractions of Ternopil is a city lake. It was created artificially in 1951 year, occupies an area of ​​400 hectares. This is a favorite place for walks and the citizens themselves, and guests of Ternopil. Towards the lake is a beautiful alley, the so-called Champs Elysees. They are not as impressive as they are in Paris, but they are nevertheless very picturesque and cozy. In summer you can take a boat trip on the lake and look at the city from the water side.
Almost in the center of Ternopol is the park "Topilche", where in the mini-reserve you can see white deer, pheasants and other interesting animals. And of course, Ternopil is a launching pad for numerous excursion routes - to Kamenets-Podolsky, to the Pochaev Lavra, to the castles, caves and waterfalls of Ternopil region.
