Belgorod - Dnestrovsky

Belgorod-Dnestrovsky is one of the southern outposts of Ukraine, the mecca of tourists, a city with many thousands of years of history. The first huge ancient Greek policy Ofius existed here as far back as the 4 century BC.

After flooding, Ophius merged with the Scythian polis Tira. Then the city was conquered by the Romans, followed by the Romans - the Goths, after the Gotts - the Huns. When the Huns, the city was called Turis. The Hun army was international, side by side in it fought representatives of many ancient tribes, including the Slavs, settled subsequently in Turis. And since the victory over Byzantium in 680, these places have become native to the Slavic tribe of the Tivertians. The city of Tivertsev White was repeatedly captured by Pechenegs, Tatars, Genoese. For some time the city was part of the Moldavian principality.

At the end of the 14th century, the famous Belgorod-Dniester fortress was built, which is one of the main attractions not only of the city, but of the whole of our country. The fortress was built by Moldovans in the period when Ackerman belonged to the Moldavian principality. Akkermanskaya fortress is the largest fortress in Ukraine. The total length of the walls stretched more than 2 kilometers. The height of walls and towers from 5 to 15 meters, thickness - up to 5 m.

Many times the fortress was strengthened and reconstructed in accordance with the development of military art - the Lithuanian prince Vitovt, the Moldavian masters Stefan II and Alexandrel. Today, it acquired the form after reconstruction by the Turks in the XVIII century. From the 34 towers of the Belgorod-Dnestrovsky fortress, 26 has survived to this day.
