Shevchenkovsky gai

The Shevchenko Hai Museum of Folk Architecture and Life is an open-air museum, an ethno-park in Lviv. It is located near the tourist complex "High Castle".

Skanseny - ethnographic complexes under the open sky - are popular both in Ukraine and all over the world. Lviv Museum - Skansen began to create in the 30-s of the XX century, the famous scientist Hilarion Sventsitsky. Now here is the largest number of ancient temples among all the world's scansen.

In addition, about 120 unique architectural sights from the western regions of Ukraine are presented to tourists in the Shevchenko Hai. The entire territory of Shevchenko Hai is divided into small villages, which represent different regions: Boykivshchyna, lowland Transcarpathia, Lemkivshchyna, Lvovschina, Bukovina, Pokut'e, Hutsulshchyna, Polesie, Volyn.

Here you can clearly see and feel the life of the people of those regions, their way of life and customs. The most popular among tourists is a house built in 1749, a water mill, a felt-mill, a sawmill, a smithy, an oil mill ... Various master classes are regularly held at different locations of the museum: on weaving, soap making, playing authentic musical instruments, making butter, baking bread ...

Also for Lviv residents and guests of the city of Lviv "Shevchenkivsky Gai" is a meeting place for friends, celebrations of various holidays: gays for Easter, Christmas and Christmas carols for Christmas, different folklore fairs and much more.
