The building of the Lviv Opera was built in 1900 according to the project of the talented architect Zygmunt Gorgolevsky, who died almost immediately after the completion of construction. The facade of the theater is magnificent, which is crowned with the main sculpture Slava; magnificent are its interiors decorated with stucco and gilding, auditorium, mirrored foyer.

Do Lviv guides have in reserve dozens of legends associated with the theater. A very interesting legend is connected with the magnificent curtain "Parnassus", which has served the theater for more than a hundred years. The builders of the Opera wanted the curtain in the theater to be as pompous and solemn as the building itself. They traveled around the world and sought out the most beautiful curtains. The best were recognized curtains of theaters of Milan and Krakow, the author of which was the famous Ukrainian artist Henryk Semiradsky - a Pole who was born in Ukraine, in Pechenegs. He was ordered to the theatrical curtain. When he made the curtain, money was not enough for him, and a generous kind artist presented his magnificent work to the Lviv Opera.
